A LITTLE MORE WATERCOLOURING WITH WATERCOLOUR PENCILS AND BUTTERFLY BOUQUET

by Stacey Marsh Independent UK Stampin' Up! ® Demonstrator, March 06, 2021

Following on from yesterday's post, I have another card that I have created with those watercoloured butterflies from the Butterfly Bouquet Collection of products, this time in a mix of pink and orange colours.

To create these butterflies, I have used the Watercolour Pencils in Cajun Craze, Calypso Coral and Flirty Flamingo on Shimmery White Cardstock for a smooth finish.

For this technique, I have followed to following steps:

Step 1, add my colour from the Watercolour Pencils onto my Shimmery White Cardstock using a Water Painter.  I have taken the colour straight from the nip of the pencil rather than adding the colour straight onto the card.  This gives a smoother and more natural blend, plus leaves no pencil lines!

Step 2, Once dry, using the main Brilliant Wings die, I have cut out the individual butterflies from my watercolour pattern and put to one side.

Step 3, from a separate sheet of Basic White Cardstock, I have cut out one of each of the Intricate Brilliant Wings Dies, and using small dots of Multipurpose Liquid Glue, I have added the intricate dies over the top of the watercolour base layers.

To bring these butterflies into a card, I have started with a card base cut from Basic White Thick Cardstock and added an embossed layer of Basic White Cardstock to the top.

The circles have been cut from the Layering Circles, and Stitched Shapes Dies with Basic White Cardstock for the larger scallop circle, and Butterfly Bijou DSP for the smaller plain circle.

The butterflies have been arranged around the edge of the circles, and I have added a simple sentiment from the Gorgeous Posies Stamp Set that I have heat embossed with Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder.  To finish, I have added some Gilded Gems

I really love the finished look of these butterflies and you can see the technique in action by clicking on the Facebook Live replay image below.  This will take you to my YouTube channel where you can subscribe and be notified of future tutorials from me.
