GLOBAL DESIGN PROJECT #GDP305 CASE THE DESIGNER

I am a BIG fan of the Global Design Project which is a weekly challenge designed to inspire you with creativity from Stampin' Up! Demonstrators across the globe.  I try to enter the challenges as often as I can and I was thrilled to chosen as the winner of a recent challenge!  

And what was even more exciting was being asked to be guest designer for a future challenge...which is today!

I love a colour combination challenge as it's a great way of changing how you might look at your style, or just give you a different starting point, and I was thrilled to see a selection of subtle shades that is my go-to style!

August and September are Sale-a-Bration months which means that when you shop, host and join you can choose a FREE item, so I have chosen to focus my card today around the FREE BEAUTIFULLY PENNED DESIGNER SERIES PAPER which is a stunning monochrome styled patterned paper and is perfect for adding your own colour to. 

I have chosen STAMPIN' BLENDS PENS as my colouring tool for the flowers and added die-cut leaves cut from PEAR PIZZAZZ CARDSTOCK using the PENNED FLOWERS DIES,

Starting with a card base cut from BALMY BLUE CARDSTOCK, I have cut an aperture in the card front using the STITCHED RECTANGLES DIES, and added a layer of the dotty paper to the inside, the idea being that there are then two layers to be decorated.  

For the decoration inside, I have used the PLAYFUL ALPHABET DIES cut from PALE PAPAYA CARDSTOCK and the FOAM ADHESIVE SHEETS to raise them slightly.  The foam sheets are white in colour and I find the trick with these is to add the matching colour around the edge using the coordinating Stampin' Blend pen or Write Marker...you just need a steady hand!

The add-on sentiments here come from the HANDSOMELY SUITED STAMP SET that I have heat embossed in white onto BASIC BLACK CARDSTOCK and trimmed down into strips before adhering where I want it. 

The scallop edge comes from the PENNED FLOWERS DIES and I think it just lifts the sentiment that little bit more. 

I have added a layer of BASIC WHITE CARDSTOCK to the back of the card so you have an area to write your special message.  

I love the way this card looks when it is closed and it would look fab in a number of colour combinations too!  You could easily switch it up by changing the flowers to another image to make it work for a number of different people and occasions. 

The measurements to make this card are as follows:

• CARD BASE: BALMY BLUE CARDSTOCK - 10.5cm x 29.8cm, scored at 14.9cm 
• DSP LAYER: BEAUTIFULLY PENNED DESIGNER SERIES PAPER - 10cm x 14.4cm
• BACK PANEL CARD LAYER: BASIC WHITE CARDSTOCK - 10cm x 14.4cm
