OMBRE STYLE CHRISTMAS CARD DESIGN WITH PLAYFUL ALPHABET DIES

Hello and welcome to my blog,

Today I am sharing a new card design that I have created during a recent Facebook live demonstration. I have used the Playful Alphabet Dies, Pine Woods Dies and Peace & Joy Stamp Set for the decoration, but my favourite part of this card is the ombre background that I have created with Sponge Brayers and a selection of green inks.

To create this ombre effect I have used a Sponge Brayer to add layers of green ink; starting with the lightest shade; Soft Sea Foam, blending into Pear Pizzazz and finally at the bottom, Old Olive. This is such a fun way to add colour to your cards and projects.

I have then added splashes of water with a Water Painter Brush and a splash of red ink from a Cherry Cobbler Stampin Blend Pen.

For my sentiment, I have die-cut the letters from the Playful Alphabet Dies with some Cherry Cobbler Cardstock and Foam Adhesive Sheets. The foam pads are white in colour so before adding to my card, I have gone around the edge of each letter with a Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blend Pen. In the photo below I haven't done this and you can see what a difference this makes. I definitely prefer the look above.

The word "Christmas" comes from the Peace & Joy Stamp Set which I have stamped in Cherry Cobbler Ink and trimmed around.

The Christmas tree has been die-cut from the Pine Woods Dies. I have used Whisper White cardstock to cut these trees out; if you look closely you will see that I have attached two of these dies together; the plain one on the bottom and the detailed piece on the top for some added texture.

I'm really pleased with how this card has turned out. Ink blending doesn't feel like it comes naturally to me but I'm sticking with it and I do love the ombre ink blended background piece.
