Every month I host a card class workshop and each month the theme varies. This month, after much request, we made Eclipse Cards using the Large Letters Framelits Dies. These cards are all over the internet and social media sites at the moment and there are so many styles to choose from!
In the class, we put together 2 cards using different techniques to layer the letters and it was lots of fun!
The first card that I am going to show you uses a technique whereby you layer each individual letter with an additional letter stuck behind in a darker colour, thus giving the "eclipse" theme. It also doubles up as a male card which I know are always well liked!
To start, this card measures 5" x 7" and has been designed in the landscape orientation. Using Thick Whisper White Cardstock for the base, I have added a layer of DSP from the Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper collection which measures 4.75" x 7" and attached to the card base.
The strip of Whisper White Cardstock layered next measures ** x 7" and before attaching to the card base, has been given a background using the diamond mask from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks that I have gone over with a Sponge Dauber and Night of Navy Ink. I have then added the wave which has been die-cut from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Dies cut from Night of Navy cardstock.
For the letters, on a separate piece of Whisper White Cardstock I have stamped using Soft Sea Foam and Night of Navy Ink, a selection of stamps from the Swirly Bird Stamp Set. I have then die-cut the letters out. The letters have been stuck to another set of letters that I have die-cut out from the same DSP that I has been used on the card front. I have then added some Mini Stampin' Dimensionals and attached the letters to the card front.
For the banner at the bottom, I have used the triangle shaped banner in the Pick a Pennant Stamp Set, and stamped onto Whisper White using Soft Sea Foam . I have used the letters in this stamp set to stamp Birthday in Black. Although there are dies to coordinate with this stamp set, I have cut mine out using good old scissors! I have used the Mini Stampin' Dimensionals again to attach the banner to the card front.
I would love to read your comments on this one!
Thanks
Have a great day!
